Tiahuanaco, located 20 km south of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, was the capital of the Tiahuanaco culture and is an impressive archaeological complex. It features structures such as Kalasasaya, Puma Punku, the Gate of the Sun, and the Akapana pyramid, which served as ceremonial centers and residences for the priestly elite. Although many constructions have not been preserved due to harsh climatic conditions, the remains showcase an advanced level of technology and architecture, evident in monolithic structures and temples precisely oriented to the cardinal points.
