DESCRIPTION
Sun Island for its geographical beauty, challenging roads, archaeological vestiges and splendid panorama in which the snow-capped mountains of the Real Cordillera stand out, Sun Island and Moon Island, (Copacabana) are one of the main tourist attractions of Lake Titicaca.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: PUNO – COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND AND MOON ISLAND 2D – 1N
On this tour, we will pick you from hotels in Puno, and head to the small Copacabana town, located to 151km. (3 hours and 30 min approximately) by shores of the Lake Titicaca with an impressive view of the Real Cordillera until arriving at Copacabana.
Arriving lunch (not included), in the afternoon we take the motor boat towards the SUN AND MOON ISLAND. We start a guided tour of the archeological site "Iñac Uyo" an Inca temple dedicated to the Moon also known as home of the Sun Virgins, after our visit we will return to the Sun Island and accommodation in family houses.
DAY 2: PUNO – COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND AND MOON ISLAND 2D – 1N
After breakfast, we will descend to the port to board the boat and go to Challapampa here we will hike of 30 minutes to reach the archaeological sites of the "Chinkana" known as the Labyrinth, "Sacred Rock" a sacred place where legends that there was born the Star Sun and the cradle of the Inca empire. In the afternoon, we take a motor boat towards the southern part of the Sun Island where we have a guided tour of the Archeological sites such as Pilcokaina an Inca Temple, and the Inca stair way until the fountain of youth. In the way, you can appreciate a beautiful landscape of the Lake Titicaca and around.
Return to Copacabana at 1:30 p.m. arrival, if we have more time will make a little City Tour and transfer to your hotel or the bus station to Puno (Peru) or La Paz (Bolivia). At 18:30 (HB) Bus Depart from Copacabana (3hrs and 30 min journey), arrival to Puno or La Paz.
